I Can't Believe Jon Huntsman Jr. Is Distancing Himself From The Latter-day Saint Faith

Having lived in John Huntsman's stake--yes, Jon senior was our stake president and visited our home on more than one occasion as our boys got ready for missions. What a great and beloved man is Jon Huntsman Sr. I love the man. He has been a friend for many years.

Jon Huntsman Sr. supported Mitt Romney in the 2008 Republican nomination contest. His son, the former governor of Utah and soon-to-be Ambassador to China, supported John McCain from Arizona for that nomination. That, alone, doesn't reveal too much, except for this. McCain turned out to be a very liberal moderate candidate, disavowing all we thought he was--that is conservative. He was not a conservative and didn't deserve our support as it turned out.

There has never been any question about Mitt Romney's devotion to the LDS Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is a straight arrow. The former governor of Massachusetts lost that bid for the Republican nomination and he may lose this one as well, but as far as his honesty, character, and ability to lead there has never been any question.

Read the following article from the Salt Lake Tribune, the rabble-rouser liberal rag in Utah, which suggests that Huntsman may have lost his zeal for the Mormons. I strongly believe else-wise. Does that mean I believe Huntsman would be as conservative a candidate as Romney? No, definitely not. If he were elected president I doubt on social issues he would differ with Romney, but on domestic and foreign issues, this man is a liberal in my view. We have many liberals in the Church, even in the leadership of the Church. But don't draw from that that Huntsman is leaving the LDS Church. he certainly is not. He is a strong member, a former Stake President himself if memory serves me. Don White

Is Huntsman distancing himself from LDS faith?

A week back in the United States, former ambassador to China Jon Huntsman Jr. on Sunday didn’t head to one of the six Mormon churches in the Charleston, S.C., area where he was visiting potential supporters and donors while deciding whether to launch a presidential bid.

Instead, Huntsman headed to a nondenominational mega-church called Seacoast with a rising star congressman, Rep. Tim Scott, who could be a key supporter in this early primary state.
The move, on top of comments Huntsman made last year about not being overly religious, raises questions about whether Huntsman, a former Utah governor, is distancing himself from his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as he considers a potential White House bid.

Can Prayer Cause Lightning, Stop Bar Construction?

Texas Beer Joint Sues Church In Mt.Vernon, Texas, Drummond's Bar began construction on expansion of their building to increase their business.
In response, the local Baptist Church started a campaign to block the bar from expanding with petitions and prayers. Work progressed right up
until the week before the grand reopening when lightning struck the bar and it burned to the ground! After the bar burning to the ground by a
lightning strike, the church folks were rather smug in their outlook, bragging about "the power of prayer ", until the bar owner sued the church
on the grounds that the church . . ."was ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means."
In its reply to the court, the church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the building's demise.
